Boris Campistron & Olivier Lavorel

With Olivier Lavorel & Boris Campistron, Galerie Estades Toulon brings together two contemporary artistic worlds that, through very different approaches, place material and gesture at the heart of their work.

In his oil paintings, Olivier Lavorel explores landscapes, architecture and cities, with a particular focus on the coastline and the Mediterranean. He transforms the complexity of landscapes shaped by human presence into structured and sensitive compositions, where forms and planes are carefully arranged to create a personal vision of reality. Among the works presented, Les deux frères, an oil on canvas measuring 50 × 100 cm, reflects this approach, combining structure with sensitivity.

In contrast, Boris Campistron works in bronze, bringing forth powerful animal figures animated by movement and the presence of living beings. His deliberately raw and expressive modelling preserves the irregularities of the material and the traces of the artist’s hand. In Garde à vous, a bronze sculpture measuring 61 × 41 × 25 cm, the physical presence of the work enters into dialogue with the paintings.

From the construction of landscapes to the movement of animal forms, this exhibition creates a dialogue between two mediums, two artistic languages and two ways of looking at the world. Painting and sculpture meet around perception, material and presence.
